NEW WINE CHURCH

Index Consulting undertook a significant Refurbishment / Restoration work on 3 sections of existing buildings around the Woolwich Ferry Island, South East London.

NEW WINE CHURCH

The Ferry Cottage:

This is a 2 bedroom house with Living area, Kitchen and Dining on the ground floor, bedrooms and bath on the first floor. The cottage overlooks the Woolwich ferry and so has a fantastic view. It however was dilapidated and required extensive refurbishment works done on the roof, ceiling walls and floor. The cottage was completely transformed into a contemporary, warm residential space for the client.

The Mitre:

This is an old run down, dilapidated pub on Woolwich high street also overlooking the Woolwich ferry. It has a basement for storage, ground floor and first floor open areas.

The building was in bad shape at the time Index was asked to renovate it. Refurb work included some roofing work, damp treatment, secondary glazing, new ventilations, completely brand new toilets and kitchens, Floor joists refurb. The scope of the work included new plasterboarded, walls, ceiling, doors etc. It was a complete transformation to a new usable space.

The Admin:

This was a conversion of a 6th floor open storage area into usable office space with a stunning view of the Woolwich ferry. The building itself was a former Odeon Listed building so Conservation officers needed to be involved. Refurb included: restoring existing timber floors, new structural steel works, new electrics, plasterboarded walls and ceiling. Part of the interesting challenge was coming up with innovative architectural ideas to tell the story of the Odeon building through lights and pictures using existing projectile spaces on the wall. Previously large existing openings in the wall were glazed with anthracite aluminium windows.
